Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a heat strip and a heating element?

The heat strip is the complete assembly — frame, sequencer or relay, safety limits, and the coil. The element is the coil itself. We can supply either the bare element or a full assembly; just tell us which.

Do your HVAC elements include the limits and sequencer?

They can. We supply bare coil elements or complete assemblies with safety limits and a sequencer. Let us know which you need when you request a quote.

Will a higher-wattage element heat better?

No — match the rating the system was designed for. An over-wattage element can overheat the unit, trip its safety limits, and exceed the rating of the wiring and breaker.

What do you need to size my HVAC element?

The make and model of the air handler, the kW rating and voltage stamped on the unit, and a photo of the old element assembly and data tag.
